Stafford Reversible Tansu Step Chest is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 171.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great piece, but ... This is a lovely piece and easy to assemble without help. However, several of the cam fittings broke during assembly as they are made of cheap aluminum. Extra hardware should be included in the package as this is likely a common problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks fantastic - minor design issue So I bought this instead of a cat tree. I figured they can climb on it and I get storage out of it. It's working out well so far. My only issue with this is that the layers are only attached to each other via a small metal plate in the back. You can lift the front of each level up - with the metal plate acting as a hinge. Other than this design flaw, I love it. Oh, it took me about 2.5 hours to put this together by myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good quality Even though this takes some time to assemble, it is very very nice when it is completed. We are pleased with the purchase. We are using it in a home office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from T I bought the Tansu Step Chest last year and I love it! Was fairly easy to put together. Would love another one, waiting for a sale. Just a little high in price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quapity piece! I ordered this piece for my entryway and I love it! My order arrived within about 4 days and I was very pleased with the quality of the product. It came in many pieces, but the instructions were pretty clear and easy to follow. Assembly took me a few hours, but I found it fairly easy. I am very happy with this tansu step chest. It is a great addition to my home....I would highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great piece the furniture came in two different boxes - complete and easy to put together. the only flaw are the brackets that hold the boxes together - very cheap and I had to go out and buy some at the store and then I added two for every one. So I wasn't thrilled about that otherwise the boxes pull away from each other oh one other thing the instructions tell you to put brackets on first in the back - the back boards go on first fyi -

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty but defective I ordered two of these. First one went together fine. Second one had a defective piece. I called Customer service, and called, and called. Long story short, it took hours on the phone and almost a month before they finally sent a replacement piece. Nice furniture, terrible customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality, easy assembky I bought this a month ago. When I opened the two boxes I was a little nervous about putting it together. However, it wasn't bad at all--about 3 hours and a Phillips head screwdriver and it was done. I'm a woman of "a certain age" so if I can do it, anyone can. It's not solid wood and probably wouldn't take hard use but it seems sturdy and looks great. I'd buy it again.

I noticed that only the chestnut finish was available at this time, even though the catalog that I have from last spring indicates that rubbed walnut was an option. Will the walnut variety soon be back?

Asked by: Larry K
Thank you for your question. We apologize we do not have this item in the walnut finish any longer. Please take a look at our Mandarin Tansu Cabinet it may be in the color you are looking for.

Dog Steps?

I want to use this piece to make steps for my dog at the foot of the bed. My bed is 3' high. The Steps need to be longer for his stride & lower to be below the bed. Does anyone think this might be possible? I am surprised that no one has done this in real pet steps.
Asked by: Samille
I don't think this would work for dog steps. First, it is taller than 3' so it would be higher than your bed. If you used just the bottom two levels, that is about 29". Second, it is quite long and you would have to climb over it to get into bed, or put it at the end. Third, the "steps" are 9 inches, which would be difficult for a small dog. And last, unless your dog has been declawed, they would scratch up a lovely piece of furniture trying to get traction. Just buy dog steps.
