Secure Step Stair Tread-9" x 36" is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 80.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Elusive I bought mats and stair treads for outside my front door which faces north. It is icy on those bricks even when there are no icy areas anywhere else. Quality mats like these were difficult to find, especially as I did not want anything that required installation of any type to secure the mats. These are of such substantial weight that you do as the directions say.... just lay them down and you're done. The diagonal lines make it very easy to shovel snow off by just pushing the shovel and it doesn't snag on the surface. I liked them so much I ordered two more for an area in front of my outdoor shed that the previous owners had unwisely installed marble in front of. These mats are pricey but worth it. A bad fall for someone was inevitable if I didn't do something...and as a nurse I have seen traumatic brain injuries ruin young lives because of slip and falls on ice. So worth it!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Work These treads arrived the day we had an ice storm! They are very heavy, which I like. My previous treads had to be secured with tacks. The ice really does just crumble off/out when flipped and twisted just a bit. Probably not good for someone who has trouble lifting heavy things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ice melts right off! I bought these in the fall and finally got the chance to see how they work in ice and snow during Thursday's blizzard and recent freezing temperatures in RI. I have the mat and four treads on a small Azek deck and stairs. Azek PVC decking gets icy very quickly and after much looking around, I found these. They have made a huge difference! Just as they claim, the material is very heavy-duty and will not blow away or move around once you put the treads down. However, unlike the claim, you really cannot just pick them up and twist them to shake snow and ice off because they are pretty heavy and freeze to the surface they sit on. If you succeed in pulling them off, the surface underneath is still icy so you won’t be able to put them back - they will slide around on the ice. I did that with one tread and ended up pouring hot water on the stair to melt the ice and put the tread back. That being said, you really don’t even have to try to get ice off them because ice does not stay on them for very long. The material absorbs enough heat even in the coldest of temperatures to keep the mat and treads ice-free and safe to walk on. In the case of a pile of snow accumulating on them, we just used a shovel to clear the snow off and anything left on the surface or in the groves melted in no time. I would say you won’t get a better mat or stair tread unless you buy the heated ones. I recommend these highly and am very happy with them. A last note: they can be cut with a skill saw if you need to adjust the size somewhat as we did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work great! I bought these a few weeks ago before we had this cold spell. They are very sturdy and do not blow off when it is windy. I could just sweep the snow off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very heavy - work great I bought a set for my back stairs last year and liked them so much that I bought another set for the front. They are very substantial; I could hardly lift the box, but that means they stay in place. We get a lot of ice dripping that freezes at night and as soon as the sun comes up it melts and drains from the treads. If it snows you can just pick them up and dust them off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes Mom feel secure Bought this mat to fill in the space between the door and Mom's mail box. Heavy thick mat so now she and I both feel more comfortable when she steps out to get the mail. Not a thin slippery mat but a heavy duty not going to move at all mat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy enough to withstand wind I have the heated mats on the front of the house since it faces north. Love them. I got these for the west side entrance to keep the doorway safe in an Idaho winter. I was very pleasantly surprised to see how heavy they are. They also have nice deep ridges in them so if there is snow or ice they will melt off and not be slippery. Very happy with them

Would these work on metal steps?

Asked by: Sk1016
Yes, if they are located in an area with sufficient sunlight because metal will get very cold. The electric heated treads & mats are better, but they are more expensive: https://www.improvementscatalog.com/electric-heated-mat-26-stair-treads/home-solutions-and-cleaning/winterize-a-home-snow-removal/13297?isCrossSell=true&strategy=389&gtmPageName=May%20We%20Suggest-PDP

Thank you for your question. These mats are made of Rubber so you can cut them. Keep in mind, cutting them will void the warranty.

i was going yo put them on 2 steps off my deck for my dog- are they a really hard surface or does it have some give- my dog has trouble with her front leg from time to time

Asked by: LORI w
Thank you for your question. This item is made out of Rubber so it may be too rough for the your dog if he/she is having trouble with there feet. Please check out some of our other outdoor mats to see if they may be more suitable.

Is this the answer to our slick deck stairs?

We have extremely slippery deck stairs and currently have thin rubber stair treads on them. When it snows the moisture gets underneath the treads and makes it even more dangerous because the stair treads slide off. Is this product heavy and “sticky” enough to solve this problem?
Asked by: kmallek
FREEZE ALERT!! These things retain moisture & do not dry out with the wind. They must be removed after the snow stops. They froze up after a light snowfall and slight warm up then temperature drop below freezing and my 84 year old Mom slipped on them & broke her leg. They are good for the snow, but if there is a warm up & a freeze, Beware!
