Rocky Stream Fountain is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor documentation and quality I've had a lot of fountains over the years and this by far the worst one to put together. The directions do not say which way the pieces go and I'm constantly having problems with it plugging up, Made a mistake on ordering this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rocky Stream I find it difficult to stabiliize the parts and prevent leaks. It doesn't look at all realistic.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stream fountain Product is well made and seems durable. Better description needed online as to what has to be done (digging) to make fountain work properly and that it is in sections. Looks like it's all one piece in photo. Each section does not lay flat, so there was a lot of readjusting that had to be done so it would not leak out to the sides or water would go backwards. Also had to rework the ground so the sections were on an angle to make the water flow. Hopefully the sections won't move over time and no leaking will occur.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overpriced for what you get Product arrived as described. However, the instructions are sorely lacking in detail as to heights of levels, advice and importance of leveling each layer, etc. It's not that hard to figure out, but a little more guidance would have been helpful, especially to someone who is doing this for the first time and isn't familiar with how fountains work. There is also no protection for the pump. It sits unprotected in the deep, open tub at ground level, making the pump susceptible to clogging from sediment, mud, leaves and debris. Because the tub is at ground level, there is no way of escape for any creature who may fall into it, so I fastened a screen to the underside of the rock facing that covers the tub. This will also help keep debris out of the tub as well as protect any wildlife. I am glad that I thoroughly researched fountain construction before choosing to purchase this so that I could recognize the shortfalls in this one. More detailed instructions, pump protection, and basin screens are included in many other fountains which are much less expensive. However, this is a nice addition to the landscape, looks nice, and functions adequately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Birds Sanctuary Complete Now I am building a bird sanctuary in our backyard and this is a special addition to it. At first I did not make the hill high enough for each level, for the water to flow easily. I fiddled with it and finally got it. If I were to offer any advice to the mechanics of this thing, I would say that the parts could fit together a little better. Perhaps that might lead to other issues though. In any case, the water if flowing without and water draining off into wrong directions and my wild birds love it. I only offered "good" remarks because "excellent" is rarely given by me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from so disappointed Having built patios and decks, I figured this would be a breeze. Looks so pretty and I had a perfect spot; I wanted this so much, but I can't get it to stop leaking...part of the leak is because as the water flows over one of the pieces, water is being absorbed by one of the components then leaks out through a hole in the piece. The instructions are "mound up the dirt to support the upper levels"...uhm, not helpful. After 3 attempts and trying to add waterproof caulk to stop it, I give up. For $250 it is a real disappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest waterfall ever made I've wanted an outdoor water fall for sometime, but had decided against the hassle and expense of making and maintaining one when I came upon this item. Assembly was more than a breeze and it provides a nice gurgling sound. Once I've planted around it , it will hopefully blend into my landscape as a completely natural feature. Price is right and I would do it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from rocky stream fountain I purchased this for my wife's flower garden and we love the appearance of the product. The only difficulty I am having is getting the overlapping pieces of the stream to stop leaking. I know it may be a shipping problem but I think it may be better if the stream was one solid piece. Otherwise we are enjoying it very much.

Does it have to go into the ground?

I am thinking of using this inside my lanai. I would support the base with bricks on all sides and then surround it with plants. Is this do-able? I also would want the upper portion to be higher than the base so that it has a cascading effect. Will that work? Thank you.
Asked by: Francesca
Yes but I advise installing a piece of screen on the underside of the "rock" cover of the basin to keep leaves, other debris, and critters from falling in. However, The basin is pretty deep (enough to drown a ground squirrel or other small creature unfortunate enough to fall in) and you have to stack the three rock layers above that, so it's going to be fairly high if you install it the way you describe.

Can the waterfall part be adjusted to whatever height you want?

Asked by: clight
Thank you for your question. Within limits. The max height of the fountain head is determined by the size of the pump. The fountain will work fine with this pump provided each section of the stream rests on the edge of the adjoining section. A larger pump is needed if the distances between the sections and overall height of the fountain head is increased.

I live in a freeze area.

The directions say I would need to take apart and store inside. Is this necessary? How difficult would this be if it is?
