Railing Curtain Rod and 2 Posts is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect solution This rod attached easily to our deck railing. It looks beautiful with the outdoor sheers we purchased. It adds privacy and shade. We are very pleased with this product. We need to iron our curtains, but I attached a picture to give you an idea. (Sorry it is sideways!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second Chances I found this to be the perfect solution to my problem with scorching sun on the far side of my deck even with the umbrella open. Instead of using as a curtain rod, I purchased a roll of shade screen from Lowes, packets of plastic grommets and roll of velcro from JoAnn Fabrics. I then constructed my own shade partition that stretched between the poles. My screen endured the entire winter, but unfortunately, we had an extremely high wind recently that snapped one pole in half. I wish the poles didn't have to rest on the deck floor but could be placed on the outer perimeter of the deck rail. I could then purchase another 2 pole unit and create a 2nd screen. As it stands now I can only replace the one pole. Even though it's very costly, there is minor rust after 1 year, and the pole snapped, I still rate this product high because it served my purpose very well, it's beautifully constructed, and under normal conditions the performance/durability is excellent. After all my effort to find it and construct it I have to give it another chance. I wish I had taken a photo before it was damaged. I was really proud of my shade screen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy & Pretty These were just what I needed. The late afternoon sun shines onto our deck at an angle making one side of our table un-usable because the light is in the eyes of anyone seated on that side. After assembling and mounting this hardware and hanging a curtain, all sides of the table are useable. This was really easy to assemble and mount. Although, being short, putting the vertical supports together BEFORE mounting was easier than assembling as directed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Idea but... Perfect for privacy, easy to assemble, but package was missing some parts (2nd back &2 bolts) so had to improvise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solving a problem West sun hits the deck full force the curtain rods did take two people to put together. It wasn't hard you just needed a second pair of hands to hold it while screwing in place on the pickets. My only complaint is the uprights have to rest on the deck. If you had the option to put them up a little higher it would help.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good Product in Theory I would have given this product a much higher review if the materials and finish were more weather resistant. After all it's intended for outdoor use. Structurally the product is sound and the installation went reasonably well. Here is the issue. In just three days rust began appearing on all of the white painted steel tube surfaces. I can just imagine how it will look after a few rains. I have to keep a can of white Rustoleum spray handy until the weather gets too cold to spray paint out of doors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these..!! These solved a problem area on our deck.. I use Improvements beautiful sheer fabric curtains with grommets in Navy to hang for shading deck/people in the morning sun.. I use blue accents in our yard and deck area so the Navy curtains were perfect.. The curtains are sheer so we can see through them so it doesn't cut down our view, but it still gives enough protection from direct sunlight, for the couple hours of morning sun that reaches the deck area.. I just love them and so happy I found the solution to this problem area with something that I didn't even know I was looking for until I found them.. They are easy to install, a little tricky, but not hard to do.. I installed them myself, with a moments help from hubby.. Mine are white, don't know if these come in another color, but white is perfect for matching the white trim on our house and the white deck cover, even tho our fence is black.. Did I say that I love them..!!

How wide are the upright pole clamps?

My deck spindles are about 9" apart. How wide are the pole clamps? I'm concerned that they might not be wide enough to clamp to the spindles properly.
Asked by: JeffS
It seems it would work only being attached to one spindle.

Will this system work with iron pickets? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your question. We advise that you take a look at the overview and specifications to make sure that this will fit your iron pickets properly. If the measurements look to be within the range, the system should work.

How to cut rods?

I've got a 10' 7" length so I'm considering ordering both the 2 post and an additional single post model and place three posts along the railing which will fill the space nicely and should be nice and sturdy. Obviously, I'd need to cut the rods. Given that the rods come with 3 parts, can I trim them enough to fit? And if so, would I trim the center rod, the two side rods or what? Thanks for the suggestion!
Asked by: wagnermba
Thank you for your questions. Improvements recommends that the rods not be cut because this alters the original design. We don't think it necessary and besides if the rods are cut they may not slide into each other as intended.
