Outdoor Curtain Rod 28-52" is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 73.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attractive and great quality. The outdoor curtain rod we purchased to work with the outdoor curtains is very attractive, easy to hang and very good quality. All in all we are very satisfied with both the curtains and the rod we purchased from the Improvements catalog.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Initially very nice but rusted to the point of being unusable I was really happy with this stainless steel outdoor curtain rod when it arrived. I found it to very attractive, solidly made and easy to install. Unfortunately, in only a few months after installation the top of the rod rusted so badly that the curtains would no longer slide. The location of the install is such that it was never exposed to moisture, so I am extremely disappointed:-(

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice curtain rod, but finish had deep scratches Nice curtain rod, but finish had deep pitted areas and some very long scratches. I was really surprised at the poor quality of the finish based on the price and had to use a permanent ink pen to fill in the light tan-colored pits and scratches which were very noticeable on the dark bronze finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good outdoor curtain rod We used this to hang outdoor curtains on our screened in porch to block the sun. It was easy to install and liked the two different hanging options. It worked very well for our slightly slanted roof line. We liked it so much we bought a second rod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome find! I spent weeks searching for an outdoor rod that was the right size and look for my home. This rod not only met my expectations it was affordable too. It has made all the difference on my patio, even when curtains are open rod looks great! Installation was easy and there were parts that made it easy to customize for my space.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed We are using these curtain rods for a covered deck to help protect and cool-down as the sun is setting. Our initial disappointment was in the packaging. The rods had Styrofoam on each end piece -- to about 4 inches up the rod. There was no packing in the center or along the length of the box and no way to keep the box from bending or tearing open. As such, the product arrived damaged -- one of the end caps bent and a gash in one of the poles. The quality of the mounting hardware is also a huge disappointment. The hooks are not made of a single piece of metal but of two very thin pieces soldered together. As we get quite a bit of wind here, there is great doubt they will last beyond a season. Finally, the rods will not stay together as the curtains are opened and closed. Instead, they pull apart. There is a pretty good chance that the rods will pull completely apart and end up damaging the deck or the person below. All in all, we would not purchase again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice rods, but not good for long span I purchased these rods for my outdoor patio. I needed to span two 12 foot sections to hang outdoor curtains. I purchased the expandable 100-144 inch rods planning to connect them together to span the distance. While the rods would have covered the space, Improvements neglected to mention that for any span over 72 inches, you have to use a middle support bracket, which would prohibit the curtains from being able to slide as I needed. So while nice looking, I am sending them back. Additionally, the rods shipped in their original packaging, which consists of a long corrugated box with Styrofoam supports at the ends only. By the time they arrived, the tape was loose in many places and a few boxes had torn from the stress and lack of support. If you need a good rod for no longer that 144 inches, these would do the trick. If you need more, look elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Rods Very easy to install and lightweight - they look pretty good!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Handyman needed I mounted my rods to columns on my deck. The screws in the end caps were crooked and needed to be bent to straighten them out. The handyman that installed them cautioned me that bending them would weaken the weld. I'm giving them a chance versus returning them and waiting for replacements. If you plan to use the end caps to hang the drapes vs. ceiling or wall supports, you may have the same challenges.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I search several different online and local shops for a curtain rod that would fit our sliding glass doors and final decided on this one. I could not be happier with my choice. The rod is sturdy, easy to hang and compliments our decor beautifully.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great Curtain rod looks great; my husband said the hook bracket was a little more difficult to install because he used structural screws rather than the screws provided.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outdoor curtain rods I purchased canvas outdoor curtains and needed a heavy duty 1" rod. These were the only 1" outdoor rods I could find online. They were easy to assemble and install. We have 88" sections seperated by posts so because of the width, we ordered the 52" up to 100" width brown rods and used the metal rod support (included) as extra support since we get strong winds. We had to purchase 50" width curtains instead of 100" width curtains and install 2 on each section since we installed the support in the center.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sturdy Very sturdy and easy to hang. Love the fact that there are two options on how to hang the rod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from outdoor curtain rods the brown color could have been better-not very antique looking. so far seems to be holding up fine. no rust yet. but it's only been up for 2weeks. very easy installation. the screws are not the best quality. but for the price the product is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my arbor! I needed a rod that was long enough for my 10' arbor and that had supports that would be small enough to screw into my 2" thick boards and this is perfect. It did arrive with a small dent in the rod which is why I rated the quality just a little lower but it wasn't big enough to warrant returning. I looked everywhere on-line and considered using galvanized pipe but this was the best value and looks fantastic even without curtains. Very easy to install and also to add and remove curtains for the seasons. Note that the photo was just my trial run. Looking forward to getting everything set up for the summer season! Definitely recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes the patio look great My friend offered to make the outdoor curtains and I just needed the buy the curtain rod. She mentioned Improvements. That is where she bought hers. Mu husband installed and looks great. Easy to install and is sturdy for porch/patio use. This, along with the curtains, dresses up the patio and will keep it cooler in summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy install for long rod I spend many days looking for a curtain rod for my extra large sliding glass patio door that didn't cost over $100. This one met all my expectations and then some. Beautiful finish, easy to install, perfect width for my 143" window although the title of the item is "Outdoor" curtain rod it looks wonderful indoors! Wish I had discovered it sooner didn't consider this rod because of title Outdoor, so glad I re-read description. Very happy with this purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rods are attractive and easy to install We needed to hang drapes in our pool cage area for privacy. I used these rods with the gromment curtains. This worked very well. The rods are strudy and extend very smoothly. My only issue with them was one of the threaded inserts that holds the rod end had come loose in the rod. Not wanting to deal with rerturning it, I used it as is. So far its OK. I did an inside mount between two rails which worked nicely. I could not use the screws that came with the rods because they are for wood or sheetrock. It would be good to include some sheetmetal screws for thoses who are installing the rods to a metal surface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product--would buy again! This was the perfect rod to install on our spa cabana! We bought the extra long rod for a 10' x 12' and installed curtains easily. Also great for our patio. These are of good quality and appearance. They work well with grommet curtains.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice curtain rods; poorly packaged These rods work great for the outdoor curtains on our screened porch. The items were not packaged well though and the boxes were beat up when we received them. The styrofoam was broken into pieces and made quite a mess upon opening the box. But, fortunately, the rods were not damaged.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection I have searched several places for rods long enough for my outdoor space and finding these met my needs. Installation was a breeze and my husband and I are now enjoying our outdoor space each morning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I hoped it would be... After installing an inferior product, which subsquently was destroyed during a normal storm...your product description was exactly what I was looking for. The installation was very easy and what I expected. Amazingly, we had a pretty severe storm (winds >50 mph) and the rod never even swayed...all while holding around 25 lb of curtain material. I will look at your products first when I tackle the next outdoor job. THANK YOU!!!

If I order the 100" - 144" outdoor curtain rod, and have three panels to hang on the rod, will I have to have a "T" brace for that span?

Asked by: Stitch4U
Thank you for your question. It would be recommended that you use the J brackets for additional support and can be placed anywhere on the rod as long as they are balanced out. Sorry not familiar with a T brace that you mentioned here unless the J brackets are what you were referring to.

Can these rods be installed on an aluminum pergola?

Asked by: Patti123
Thank you for your question. Improvements recommends that you check with your local hardware or Home Improvements store for the proper mounting hardware to use on your aluminum structure. There is a mounting packet included with the curtain rods, however most likely sheet metal screws will have to be purchased to use for the installation on the aluminum.

130" one way pull

I need to have a one-way pull span of 130". However, a center support would block the curtain movement. Is there an alternate solution?
Asked by: bsjudy
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there is not an alternate solution. Improvements recommends that the center hook be used to support the rod length. Certainly Improvement would like for you to try our curtain hardware but we do want you to be satisfied - if the rod was the same diameter and there was not an extending rod than it may work but these are not designed that way.

Rod Hangers

I need to extend the rod to 90" Can I do this without a center hanger? I am installing them in a pool cage and the rails are 90" apart. There is no place to put a center hanger. Thanks
Asked by: Richard62
Thank you for your question. Improvements recommends that the center hanger be used to accommodate the weight of the curtains that will be hanging on them. However it looks from your measurements that there will be 10" remaining of unused rod so the support may be ok without the hanger. We suggest that you try it without using the hanger and if it does not work for you once installed you can return them.

How do you extend the rod?

The rod came today in 2 pieces, which when I insert the 2 rods together, it measures 100". How do I get it to extend to the advertised length of 144"?
Asked by: Jeje
Thank you for your question. For this rod set it includes 3 rods to accommodate the entire 144" L. The center rod is nested inside of one of the outer rods. If you do not see the third rod then Improvements recommends that you have it exchanged for a new set.

Measurements for outdoor curtain rods

What is the distance (in inches) from to the curtain rod to the wall. I have curtains that need at least 3 inch clearance. My curtains fan fold and go through the rod.

Thank you for your question. The projection is 3-1/4".

Distance between screws

What is the distance between the screw holes on the mount? I already have 2 holes with half inch gap in the metal window panels and would not like to make new holes. Also, can I get an extra mount with a 144" order? I can pay extra.
Asked by: Shish
Thank you for your question. If using the 'hook' mount the distance is 7/8" if using the 'side' mount the distance is 1-1/2". This was measured from the outer center of the screw holes on each mount. We are sorry but Improvements does not sell the mounts separately.

Can you put an extension on the rods?

On my patio, I have 5 different places for the outdoor curtains. One of them is approximately 140 inches wide. Can you put extensions on these rods so that they will work in the space? Thank you.
Asked by: Bonusmomma
Thank you for your question. Improvements does not sell outdoor extension rods separately, however to cover the 140" wide space you mentioned, please purchase the 100"-144" rod, item # 392927 and this will provide for your needs. The 52"-100" rod, item # 392919 and the 100"-144" rod, item # 392927 above comes with a middle extended rod to provide for the extra widths our consumers may need.

Projection of brackets?

I am ceiling mounting this rod outside and need to know the projection of the brackets so that I can determine my finished length on the draperies
Asked by: Anonymous
The bracket is shaped like a very large " J ". The "top" of the "J" is T'd and mounts to the ceiling. It is "a hair" over 3 inches from where the bracket mounts to the ceiling to where the rod "sits on" the bracket. The rod that holds the draperies is 7/8 inch in diameter.
