Hampshire Tall Pantry Cabinet is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks ok but smells toxic This cabinet looks good and fits the space (door alignment is difficult though), unfortunately as other people have mentioned there's a terrible sharp chemical odor coming from it. It smells toxic and harmful (makes my boyfriend's eyes water), even after airing out for weeks and putting in baking soda. For now we've put canned goods and other completely sealed products in the compartments, but we're considering cutting our losses and just getting rid of the thing. It's really too bad, and I wish I'd listened to others' reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great kitchen piece I have a small kitchen so finding a cabinet to fit was becoming a chore. When this popped up, I had to get it and I am so happy I did. It arrived via UPS in two boxes, quite quickly after I ordered, and my husband was impressed that each set of hardware came in a separate bag so he could easily account for everything. He put it together while I was at work, and I am guessing encountered the usual assembly issues, but he was able to put together a great piece and have it all up by the time I got home. I really like the outlet on the "counter," which allowed me to plug in my charger, a Keurig and a toaster, freeing up a LOT of counter space for me. My Instant Pot fit perfectly on the bottom shelf (plenty of depth) and spices fill the cop cabinet. It's not so high that I can't reach the top of the cabinet (I am 5'5). Overall a great value, especially compared to having to build an entirely new kitchen cabinet to find counter and storage space.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Still SMELLS after a YEAR!!!!!!! First let me say that I had no problems putting this together, by myself, other than a hole or two were too big for the screws or dowels. Nothing that was in a crucial spot though, so.... No big deal. And aesthetically, it's a nice piece. The problem I have is that it STINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's a chemical smell, which others have noted. What no one else has mentioned is that the smell Does Not Go Away!! It's been literally a YEAR and I still have to keep the doors open, otherwise when you do open them, you get hit in the face with with this disgusting smell. Which is quite unappealing when you're going in there to get FOOD. I keep HOPING that one day I'm going to be surprised, and it won't smell. I even put RID Activated Charcoal containers in there and it helped some, but not enough... and IT'S BEEN A YEAR!!! I called Customer Service a few months after I got it and they were very nice and said I could return it, but even if I had still had the box, and even if I had been inclined to take it all APART, there is no way on EARTH anyone could pack it up again. It had been packed so compact, there wasn't a centimeter of spare space in there. I emailed back and forth with a tech a few times, but then I just got tired. Annoys me that he acted like I was the ONLY one that had encountered this smell. Which I knew couldn't possibly be true. Anyway, I have nothing against Improvements Catalog, just don't buy this item. You've been warned...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice fit and finish This cabinet serves as a pantry in my small kitchen. The size , scale are great. The finish on the hardware looks elegant. My husband assembled in about 2 hrs total from unpacking cartons to placement in room. There was some extra time required in tweaking (tightening/loosening/aligning) the door hinges, and that proved to be the most difficult aspect - we would recommend this product. It seems very sturdy. We also bought the wheeled 2 door short cabinet and the hide away trash bin to complete the look - the kitchen was immediately transformed !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cabinet - for 2 people to assemble Very nice appearance and functionality. Outlets are good addition. Be prepared for assembly: need a good "phillips" screwdriver, don't rely on the little gadget in the packet. Good instructions, but consider attaching the door hinges to the cabinet before attaching to the doors, rather than as prescribed. There are no extra screws and I lost one, so have a good hardware nearby. Also, some screw holes were too large and the screws "stripped" easily so I had to get one size larger screws. Attaching doors is VERY difficult for one person, so have a helper with a steady hand. I couldn't and didn't use the brackets to attach to the wall. It seems stable so I'm hoping it won't tip over. It's a little pricey for a product that requires this much assembly but the finished product looks very good and fits well in lots of close spaces.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's cardboard! A $350 piece of cardboard! Instructions aren't hard to follow but if you don't treat it with kid gloves it breaks apart - see photos. Don't waste your money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I have in my life assembled a lot of flat pack furniture, especially since as a student I worked part time at a store that sold it, and assembled a lot of display items. This is one of the worst pieces of flat pack furniture I have ever owned. The quality is horrific; cheap parts, cheaply made. Tiny thin panels of MDF that will break if you just look at them sideways. It took a fair while to assemble because the instructions are poor, and often leave you guessing about the orientation of some of the parts, because they have missed key design features off the diagram. And if you over-tighten on lean on anything with any force, expect it to snap like a cheap twig. The finished piece of furniture looked okay and fitted in the spot, but it had a strong chemical odor which really makes one wonder if it would be safe to put food items or anything related to food inside it. Even after days with air fresheners inside it, it still smells off. Even the power cord (which is the highest quality piece in the kit), sticks out so far from the back of the unit that it won't sit flush against a wall, even if there is a baseboard; which is an inexcusably stupid design flaw. This is quite literally the worst piece of furniture I have purchased in the last ten years. And if it were not for the hassle, I'd return it in a heartbeat. I cannot fathom how this piece got any half decent reviews at all.

Should I use wood glue

Asked by: Rockrock
Hello, wood glue should not be necessary with the hardware included. Also, please keep in mind that altering the item in any way would void the 1-year warranty. Thank you!
