Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Hedge Worked very well for city terrace, gives the urban jungle some life

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ... but NOT in the SUN Loved these. Bought several (18 of them) to cover a rocky (and ugly) hillside. Sadly, this hillside gets very bright sun all day long (I live in Los Angels) so it faded to a very boring grey within 3 years. However, I had two young men who work with me spray paint it with hunter green as the base color and then bought three other variations of green - and had them spot spray it so it looks more 'natural' and It looks great! We will see how long it lasts. However, wherever I put these ivy panels on metal cyclone fencing that is in the shade, they continue to look like new and it has been three years. For me, it was worth the pricey investment in both situations. Hence, my grade of only 3 stars for fades in the sun.

Can this product be attached to brick?

Can this product be attached to brick? Will it effectively and attractively block the chimney?
Asked by: BillM
I think it would have to be nailed or hooked to the chimney in several places, as the wind catches it. It would have to be wired to the nails or hooks so it wouldn't blow away.

Confirm whether it can be cut, please

The description states that this can be cut to fit the size needed, but the STAFF response to the question about cutting says it should not be cut. Which is correct?
Asked by: ImprovingTX
Hello, cutting the item would void the 1 year warranty by altering the item. With this in mind, technically, it can be cut but then would not be able to be returned. I hope this helps. Thanks and have a great week!

Sufficient to shade brick wall & window in direct sun?

My 2nd story master gets full direct sun from just after noon until 6pm. The temperature in the room rises almost immediately despite insulated knockout drapes. Since summer nights stay above 80 by early June, the bricks stay hot all night and continue to heat the room. If I attach these to the brick will it be enough to shade the wall or would I also need shade fabric behind it? HOA won't allow a free standing structure or trellis that can be seen from the street. This seems like it would appear to be ivy growing on the wall and since it would be flush to the wall will be blocked from view by the fireplace that extends out from the wall on the street side of the window. It only needs to be up from late May thru early October.
Asked by: ImprovingTX
The ivy will fade being hit my direct sun over time. My ivy has been up for 2 years now. I'm not sure it has real insulating properties. I would check with someone knowledgeable in the field. I'm thinking an insulating material would be best first, and then the ivy over it.

How to use for an 8 foot fence?

Hi, I have an 8-foot wooden fence around my yard (also behind the pool); looking out from the pool at it, it looks ugly, and I had hoped to cover that section of the fence with your greenery. But I do not see an 8 foot height. Is that available, or is there some way to use it sideways (two four-foot-wide sections turned sideways for example) to attach it to this section of fence? Thanks, Anne
Asked by: anneinFL
I don't see offhand why not. It should work. You can also purchase extra, and then zip tie the two sections together.

Will the leaves fade in time? For how long will they keep their greenness?

Will the sun's UV rays damage the foliage? How long is the color fastness for this product? Is there a guarantee for color fastness? Normally your guarantee is only good for 90 days?
Asked by: thispinetree
Yes over time. I have a section I've had up for 2 years, and it's a bit bleached out. You can always spray it lightly with matching green spray paint available.
