Rated 4 out of 5 by from excellent love the umbrella. The only thing is battery life, it would be nice if it was rechargeable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unreliable Product IF this product's mechanics were better quality, it would be a great item. Sadly it proved to just not be well made - at all. It looks nice, but I expect it to fail within the first season. The problem lies within the crank system and the cheap plastic pole casing...mostly the crank system as this controls the function of the item. When attempting to open and close the umbrella, the lame and poor quality mechanics force one to "nudge" the fabric of the umbrella to get the umbrella to retract. This is due to the rope not properly functioning inside the crank cradle. This is what will surely fail, completely, within the first season. If something doesn't work properly out of the box, it sure as heck isn't going to work well or have longevity. At full price, this item is extraordinarily expensive. I kept it for two reasons only: 1. The hassle of return and 2. I desperately needed something to shield an unfinished area of my entry during this season's winter rains in SoCal. The only "good" thing about this purchase for me - I got it on sale and didn't pay much. Again, while the aesthetic of something is important - it's MORE important for the function to perform well and be quality. The latter is where this product fails.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product Overall excellent product, easy to set up and use. It matched my expectations and works very well. Can't speak to the durability as I just received it this fall and didn't have enough of a season left to run it through it's paces. But I expect based on the quality of the product that it will last me for a while. Was very happy to find an umbrella that gave me the ability to put a shade over a section of the patio that we couldn't open a full umbrella.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made! I can't believe I finally got this umbrella! I've been looking at it for years, and when it went on sale I had to get it. What a DEAL for such a pretty, well-made, great quality item. It looks very expensive. It adds a touch of fun and beauty to my patio. I love it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for awkward areas This is the second one I have purchased. Could not resist the sale price. The first one is under a screened area by the pool and the fabric still looks new after about 4 months. This one will be in a more direct sunlight area so only time will tell if the fabric will fade quicker. (other reviews have said they are not happy with how quickly the fabric fades) At this price, its worth the risk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It We have a covered deck but added a small extension last year. This works wonderful at the end of the overhang to keep rain off the new section and part of the ramp. Hoping it will also keep snow off the deck when it blows...as long as it's not to heavy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for small courtyard area! The lighted half umbrella was exactly what I'd been looking for to add a little shade and some class to our small gated courtyard. The size was perfect for the area and the lighted spines gave a very nice light for evening use. The only disappointment I have is that the shade began to fade almost immediately. The tan/taupe color is now a faded mauve after only a few weeks. I would recommend the company use a more sun resistant fabric or treat prior to sale.

Does this umbrella fold up?

I'm wondering if this half umbrella will fold up in case of bad weather or strong winds.
Asked by: Jill68
I live along the eastern coast and would not trust any umbrella in bad weather. I have seen the best and strongest umbrella fold in the storms that we get hit with. My suggestion is to always put an umbrella away when a bad storm is approaching. That being said this is a strong and stable device and I don't rush to pull it when rain is forecasted. I ususally leave it out throughout the entire summer, and only take it for hurricane season.
