Rated 3 out of 5 by from door closer Unfortunately, this item did not work as I wanted it to. I wanted it to allow our dog to push open the door, and then close behind her. She knows to push it open, its the closing part that she doesn't get. It would not work as she only pushes it open her width, then it starts closing, and she cant get in. Also the color was black and our door is white.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Product - Did not work at all I was looking for an automatic screen door closer. I can across two types of models. One was a flimsy plastic model for about $10 w/o S&H which had terrible reviews. Since it was plastic it worked for only a short amount of time. The other type was a medal rod that attached to the top of the screen door for about $25 w/o S&H. It had fair reviews. I purchased this latter type. The first problem encountered was the fact that the brace for the rod was larger than the frame of the screen door and thus was very difficult to attach to the frame. The second problem and most important aspect was that the device did not work. It did not work because it put too much pressure on the top of the screen door and basically pull it down vertically while trying to pull it closed horizontally. Finally, the adjustment mechanism snapped when simply turning it to adjust the tension. It was a waste of $35 (incl S&H) and now there are four holes in the door frame (needed to install).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it. The only problem we had was it is black and our screen door is white. My husband painted it white and it blends in fine. Helps keeping the cleaver cats in doors. Not to mention the bugs. Kids are in and out all the time and forget to close the door now it does all on its own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Screen door closer Very cheap construction. Nut that the adjustment screw goes into is supposed to freely slide in the track. Nut dimensions too large or track dimensions too small because it bound up. I had to disassemble, grind off some of the nut, add grease to the track to make it work properly. Also had to make my own 'catch' that the return string is attached to, as the design has a sharp point on it that makes it difficult to release the closer for manual override without cutting ones finger. This may have been worth half of what it sells for. I would only recommend if the purchaser plans on making their own improvements as I did.

Mounting Options ?

Can this closer be mounted in the middle of the door instead of the top ? Thank you.
Asked by: JAMWBMI
Thank you for your question. It is recommended that it should be mounted at the top center of the door frame and not in the middle of the door. There is a line that pulls from the closer and can be a hazard if placed in the middle of the door.

Do settings allow for the door to stay open, if needed?

I like the concept of the auto closing door. But, if it always closes when we may be loading this into the house I could see that would be a pain in the neck. Please comment. Thanks
Asked by: Patriots
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately there is no setting on the door closer that will allow the door to remain open. However there is a setting that will determine how quickly the door closes behind you. So, although the door will not prop open by itself it can be set to close very slowly.
