Automatic Plant Watering System with Coil Basket is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great idea, poor quality I have a love/hate relationship with this product. It's terrific and a real plant and time saver when it works. However, I currently have one with a bad mother board and one with a faulty pump. Unfortunately you can't switch out the parts. They don't last long enough to justify the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great vacation waterer Bought this to get plants through the summer heat while we were away. A little tricky to figure out the timer (the reason for 4stars) but once we got it going, it works like a charm!! The perfect answer! THANKS!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, though not perfect. Went out of town last year and asked my pet sitter to water plants every 4 days...they died. Googled automatic plant watering system and voila. Ordered and have been pleased. Only problem experienced so far was when it kept watering beyond the set amount...not sure it watered all at once or what but when I went in to check, water was everywhere. Luckily I was home. FYI...My plants sit in baking pans or similar containers which I fill with water instead of pouring water directly into plant. I also place the end of the hose under the pot to secure it (picture shown). About to order another since I just bought more plants so hope things continue to go well. As with everything, there are going to be defective ones, so exchange it for another if your first one doesn’t work. You could place the watering device in a larger (wider rather than deeper) container if you have a lot of plants.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs Improvement The bucket is not large enough and there is no way to extend the pump tube to accommodate a larger bucket.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Arrive damaged and defective Took almost 3 weeks to get it and it arrived in a damaged box (crushed on one side) which caused a crack on the control box connected to the tubing hook-up stem. Also one of the tubing hook-ups is too large therefore can't use it and the cap won't fit so had to create a work-around in order to use the other 9 hoses. Undecided if worth returning so for now we are testing the system to make sure it's usable and dependable during our travels. Easy to use except the watering settings guideline does not answer what .1-.4 and .6-.9 equate to for the day frequency setting. Trying to figure it out. Nowhere on this site does it explain this. Would give it a better rating and recommend it to others but just don't know about it's performance given the setbacks. It's definitely overpriced with obvious quality control issues and shipping costs are not covered for returns, really!?!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don`t waste your money This watering system is way too small to be functional. It only holds @ 2 gal of water yet it has 10 outlets. I used the water in @ 5 min. Usless! Come on Improvements, you can do better!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Exploding bucket Had for about a month. Came home to find the bucket rim had come loose and the coil spring had sprung about 5-6 ft in the air, pulling the electric panel and pump out of the bucket and over the edge of our balcony - 15 floors up. Fortunately nothing fell. Flimsy and temperamental but the electronics are functional.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best on the market- but fails often, have backups I have tried 3 of the better rated indoor plant automatic watering systems... of the 3 this is clearly superior. It does the job quite well- relatively easy to program. The only downside is the longevity. In 3 years I'm on my 7th or 8th unit... I find each lasts a few months at most before failing. Of course, this is just an estimate. The one I use now has gone well for over a year. The 3 before lasted weeks only. Most commonly the electronics seem to just fail and no matter what batteries you put in they won't water or turn on... 2 of them apparently somehow leaked and water filled the containers. (You can see from the picture the electronics are completely free from the suction and output tubes, I have no idea how this happened indoors in units still attached to the sides of the tubs... but the batteries were also fried in those 2, water in the battery compartment.). I've yet to find a better or more reliable unit sadly though I keep trying- but if you get one of these I'd highly recommend setting up 2 at once each pulling 1/2 the water you want for redundancy so you don't come back from vacation to find your plants had no water at all. I personally leave for 2 weeks of every month and rely on these alone to do the watering... so your experience may be different if you only use them 1 week a year. Also, the tub is great for several small houseplants. If you actually use all the outputs to water 8 plants or so with any reasonable size, you'll drain the tub fast- but this can be hooked onto a larger water tub with a narrow rim instead of the collapsable green tube that comes with it. In sum, I've spent a few years researching and trying these automatic indoor plant watering systems. At this time, 2018, I think this is clearly the best but has great room for improvement.

How much water does the container hold? Can a bigger container be used?

Asked by: Babs154
Maybe 2 gallons. You would have to completely replace the hose connected to the pump so that the pump sits at the bottom of your alternate container.
