A handful of people these days are opting out of expensive weddings and larger venues and going with more affordable and customizable options like DIY backyard weddings. A backyard wedding makes for a personal, intimate, and memorable big day. We wanted to stage our own little outdoor wedding to help inspire your DIY wedding. Here’s how we did it…
Backyard Wedding Decorations Used:
- Freestanding Curtain Rod System
- Artificial Corkscrew Topiaries & Artificial Double Ball Topiaries
- Folding Wood Armless Chairs
- Solar Lanterns
- Planter Boxes
- Topiary Urns
- Sheer Outdoor Curtains
For our DIY wedding, we chose folding wood armless chairs. Their lightweight, eucalyptus construction makes them easy to set up and tear down. To dress them up, we then elegantly draped white tulle and fixed the sheer material in place with a white ribbon, a white rose, and baby’s breath.
To create the chapel structure, we used a freestanding rod system and weaved nagi, a lush and vibrant green, around the frame. Next, we added elegant sheer white outdoor curtains and tied them with white ribbon, white hydrangeas, and more baby’s breath.
To add a glow around our chapel area, we used our battery-operated starlight spheres. Wedding lighting should be beautiful, yet subtle, and highlight the chapel as the centerpiece of the ceremony.
To top off our backyard wedding display, we added 2 artificial corkscrew topiaries and 2 artificial double-ball topiaries. We placed the topiaries in our self-watering planters and Tuscany topiary urns in a sand color. Each regal artificial plant helps to create an elegant, enclosed area for the bride and groom. Lifelike artificial plants are maintenance free and require no last-minute pruning or prep. And be sure to add anything you see here to your Improvements wedding registry.
