Rated 5 out of 5 by 5' Wooden Plank Garden Bridge With Rails I got this bridge to go in my daughter's garden... She passed away April 9, 2013. This bridge is an awesome addition to her garden... Came well packaged & deck assembled in 2 halves... We put it together (NOTE * the rails are slanted on one end & straight on the other. They go in a certain way. If you Have any bad gaps in the railing, turn the rail around), varnished it with Min Wax Golden Pecan varnish, bored holes in the top of the 4 end posts, & mounted solar powered lights on the posts... This bridge is made of good wood, sturdy, & holds up to 450 lbs (we haven't tested that)... But it is a beautiful addition to her garden and I highly recommend this product April 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product has good and the finished product looks great. I built a dry creek bed of pebbles and rocks and need a bridge for it. I saw this bridge in the catalog. It met my needs and the price was very good. After assembly I stained the bridge and it looks great. June 12, 2014

Answer:
It's about 22 inches from one side to the other where the posts for the railings are. There are indented cuts for the posts. Otherwise the distance from side to side is about 26 inches.

Answer:
It is fir wood and will need some type of sealant...don't be fooled by what the description says, as won't last without!!!
Fasteners are screws and there are HUNDREDS, and they are coated with something, but not galvanized or stainless, but sufficient.
