Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Convenient wine preserver It usually takes me a few days to finish a bottle of wine so I have been thinking about a wine preserver system for quite a while. After rejecting the vacuum pump method due to mixed reviews and the Coravin method due to expense, I found the Savino Wine Saver Carafe to be just the thing I was looking for. It gives me the opportunity to decant the wine upon first opening and saving the wine in a clever, seemingly efficient manor. While I have only used it for one bottle of Nebbiolo, I found that the wine was just fine (if not a little better) after three days. (I suspect the wine had opened up, I don't believe the Savino improved the wine.) The engineering of the floating cap worked brilliantly, and once I poured the wine from the carafe, the cap recovered the wine until the next pour. The carafe is easy to clean as are the top cap and the floating cap. It will see a lot of use in the future. February 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Attention Wine Drinkers This is a must have for wine drinkers! No more pumping air, we just use it as a decanter and what we don't finish lasts for days! March 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for ANY wine drinker I bought the Savino for my father for fathers day but decided to give it to him a little early (he's 91yo). At first he didn't think he would enjoy using it, but has loved it starting with the first bottle. Sometimes it may take 3-4 days for him to finish the bottle and previously would throw the last of the bottle out, but not anymore. The wine stays good 'til the last drop. March 29, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Must-Have to Preserve That 2nd Opened Bottle Re-corking and/or ordinary carafe-ing merely allow an opened bottle of wine to deteriorate - what an unnecessary waste !!! Own this perfect solution - assembly and clean-up beyond EASY !!! Four-day-old wine tasted liked freshly uncorked. April 14, 2014

What are the various parts made of?

I'm hoping the carafe itself is made of glass.

Answer:
Improvements has a glass version and a plastic version. The glass version is more expensive than the plastic version. On the glass version, the carafe and lid are glass, but the little floating thing is plastic. I have the glass version, I didn't want to risk flavors getting leached into the plastic and affecting the taste. It's well worth the money to me. It's pretty to look at it, durable, and easy to clean. I wash it by hand, removing the plastic pieces and letting everything air dry before reassembling.

Thank you for your question. The carafe is glass, the float is plastic and the seal is silicone.
