SnowScoop™ Snow Shovel

I find it somewhat bulky but definitely useful.
I have used the SnowScoop for a number of years. Works reasonably well, but in my opinion it's not a totally "easy on your muscles" alternative to lightweight snow pusher/shovels. It is, however, a faster and non-lifting alternative. It's a well built, somewhat bulky, heavy duty pusher, that does move a lot of snow. But it's a one-person-powered tool and even with the strong front wheel you have to have some degree of strength to push it, balance it, and manipulate it through snow for an extended period. I'm an average size 60-something male in reasonably good condition and I usually feel that I've had a little bit of a workout whenever I use it to clear my long driveway. More specifically, I usually feel like I had a bit of a wrestling match pushing and twisting it. Then again, controlling my temperamental monster snowblower after heavy storms is no fun either. While definitely not overly heavy, the SnowScoop is not especially light in weight and is somewhat bulky to carry. It is not like carrying a simple snow shovel around. I wish it were better balanced at the carrying handle --- but I might have disturbed the balance a bit by removing the metal front edge protector, a feature that I don't like in snow pushers because they seem to catch on every minor obstruction in my driveway and walkways. As mentioned, with snow on it, the SnowScoop can get a little heavyish to push. Again, the wheel is a great help! Obviously, the more and wetter the snow the harder the push. Never the less, it does work and it is usually my initial 'pusher' of choice in 2 to 5 inch or so snowstorms for quick relatively long swaths of snow removal. I routinely use it in heavier storms too but generally have to clear smaller areas and do so with smaller bites into the snow. It does move a lot of snow quickly. It is obviously too heavy and awkward to lift like a snow shovel. It is designed such that you just abruptly twist the SnowScoop to remove the collected snow into a pile wherever you want it. Actually the twisting action one of its better points in my opinion. Again, the center-mounted front wheel helps here too. It acts as a simple pivot point. I still use my light-weight 24 inch snow pusher/shovels as needed, but I seem to move a lot more snow with the SnowScoop. I have missed it on those occasions where I've needed it and couldn't find it --- dispite its large size and bright orange color. I don't consider it a sole replacement for lightweight snow shovels and snow pushers because of its bulkiness, but it is definitely a useful snow removal tool.
