Tall Expanding Pet Gate 3.9 5 12 12
Perfect for top of my stairs We can't install a dog gate or kid gate at the top of our stairs without drilling holes in the wood newel post. We are planning on selling our house in the near future so when I saw this I had to get it. It works perfectly for our dog - keeps him from running down the stairs and easy for us to slide so we can walk down the stairs. only suggestion: put felt pads at the bottoms of the "feet" if you have wood floors. this gate slides beautifully - doesn't stick at all!!!!!! well-packed and easy to install - just had to put the feet on; super simple! Pet gate The gate works well. Very pleased with the look and the fact that it expands. I am going to order one more. April 4, 2014
Love this gate Have been using a baby gate to block my dogs from using our stairway--this gate is so much better. It is attractive, adjusted perfectly to the staircase width, and does not topple over--have Golden Retriever and 2 Golden Doodles. May 15, 2014
This gate is very attractive and very functional. I loved the gate -- looks very nice. While it was not inexpensive, I'm glad I purchased it. I don't know if I would order other items from Improvement because I think the shipping costs are excessive. I love your merchandise but would look elsewhere because of the shipping expenses. Tall Expanding pet gate This gate is perfect for the 6 foot opening to my sunroom. It has a dark wood finish which is much prettier than a plastic baby gate! It is a free-standing structure that does not require any attachments to the nicely finished woodwork around my archway. It is high enough (36") to contain a medium sized dog. The only downside is that it is light in weight and the spindles could break if you adjust opening by holding from there. Better to slide open from the top of the gate. I would recommend this gate. looks good but... Was excited to receive... It looked exactly as the picture however it does not slide easily for humans but my dogs have no problem sliding it right open. it is also lighter in weight than expected and a little flimsy for really containing dogs. I was disappointed! I have ordered from Improvements before and the products have been great! This was not expensive and I guess you get what you pay for. November 6, 2012
Disappointing with large dogs We have been trying to find a solution to keeping our dogs away from the front door. This is NOT it. The dogs can easily push the gate out of the way. It is also not very sturdy after about 2 weeks, only one side of the panel would still slide open. December 19, 2012
Very cheaply made and doesn't work well I bought this for a retired racing Greyhound we were adopting. The pics in the ad showed large dogs (lab, sheepdog) being foiled by the gate, so I figured I'd give it a try. Upon the receipt, the gate was already broken (split wood), so I returned it for another. No hassle, in that Improvements took the gate back and sent out a new one with no problems. Once the dog met the new gate, though, it took all of 5 minutes for him to figure out how to use his nose to push the gate aside and walk out of the area we were trying to keep him in. This thing is light, and pushes aside quite easily. We kept the gate, and tried using it to keep the dog in areas where we could brace the feet against something (wall, furniture, etc.) and it worked slightly better, however, after a month or so the feet on the gate began falling off regularly. Seems like every time I lifted the gate, the feet fell off. I can't count the number of times I've re-glued dowel rods and tightened screws to try and keep the feet on. The next step will be for me to drill holes and insert some heavy duty screws. Hopefully that'll work better. For a fairly expensive gate, this thing seems cheaply made, and not worth the money in my opinion. February 2, 2014
