Rubber Scroll Stair Tread-Set of 4 4.6 5 80 80
Lightweight ,but stays in place and really finishes the total look Not only do they help save the steps after staining, but they look great. August 14, 2014
Expected higher quality A couple of years ago I bought the extra long stair treads and was thrilled. They were heavy, well made and attractive, and after several years show almost no wear. So, when I needed shorter ones, I came back to the same place. These treads are not the same at all. They are half the thickness and weight of the originals, which makes them very floppy and prone to sliding around on the steps when kicked or bumped. The excess edging around the scrollwork looks sloppy too. Overall, still a good deal for the price, and they do work as advertised. Just don't expect the high quality you normally would from this retailer. August 14, 2014
Rubber Stair Treads add Safety & Beauty to our staircase. We bought 3 sets +1 individual tread for the staircase on our back deck. The steps are steep and our elderly dog was having trouble getting down them without slipping on the bottom 2 or 3. We installed the treads on Saturday morning (used exterior grade staples to hold them in place) and our dog was running up and down the steps less than an hour later. The treads aren't as thick/sturdy as the ones we purchased from Improvements a few years ago but they appear to be thick enough to handle the foot traffic from our deck. I didn't rate them for durability yet as we live in Central PA and have just installed them ~ That remains to be seen in the Spring after the wicked winter here is over. The do look beautiful & add the safe traction/cushioning we were looking for. July 31, 2014

Answer:
They are sufficient in thickness at just a little over 1/4 inch thick. I feel these are a reasonable thickness, and are well made. I think if stair treads were too thick they could pose a tripping hazard when climbing the stairs, which is not the case with these.

Answer:
Thank you for your question.
If the tiles have a smooth surface it is recommended that you use caution. The tread have are rubber backing with treading however any type of tread that is on a smooth surface unless adhered down may have a tendency to slip if water or debris gets trapped under the treads.
