Rated 5 out of 5 by ROLL UP SOLAR SHADES & PERSONAL INFORMATION We used these shades both inside and out on 3 different windows and love them! They are great for blocking that extra sunlight outside so you can sleep in! Thanks! October 24, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what I wanted! I was about to order outdoor drapes for my screened-in back porch when I saw the solar shades in the Improvements Catalog. The more I looked at them, the more it made sense to order them. They are very handsome shades and functional. I am so glad I did not go with the outdoor draperies as they would not have provided the shade and privacy I wanted. October 24, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Outdoor Shade Really good quality. Works as advertised in reducing sunlight, glare & heat. Relatively easy to install too. October 24, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great! It's been wonderful on our deck. We can roll the shade down to any level to protect from the sun. October 24, 2011

How much privacy?

Can you easily see through the screen from the outside if you're more than 20 feet away? We're looking for some privacy as well as sun shielding.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Yes, that's where we installed our shade. See the installation directions (on the Improvements website in the product description). Just a few screws were needed.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The type of hardware needed depends on the material and construction of your soffit. We recommend consulting a professional or your local hardware store for assistance.

What is the exact width of the 4' wide screen without any hardware? Same question including the hardware? Do you recommend moving the shades indoors during the winter months to increase longevity? I live in Seattle and we have mild winters.

Answer:
The fabric width is 69 1/2". The overall installed width with hardware is 72". I would suggest that you take the fabric inside during the winter as this would definitely prolong the life of the fabric and it is not difficult to remove the roller from the hardware.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The Roll-up Solar Shade (4’W x 6’L) fabric width is 46.10”, the screw-to-screw measurement is 46.65” and the total width installed is 48”. The shades can be left up year round, but taking them down for the winter may increase their life span.

What is the pull cord made of?

Pull cords on blinds we have purchased in the past have been rather deficient and deteriorate over time. Are these of good quality?
