We have a one-year old ShihTzu and purchased the larger door since the measurements on the smaller door seemed too small. She's on the larger size for her breed. It is perfect for her and she has plenty of room to spare. The only drawback was that we had a hole in the screen door and thought this would be the perfect solution to utilize the "hole" instead of replacing the screen. The door does not come with any screening. it is a plastic frame that uses your existing screen, so we still had to patch our door before installing it. It was very easy to install and works beautifully. She loves it! We do not use the locks that came with it. we have not found a need for them yet.

I was a little worried how this would work and I read the reviews of this product. About every other review said it was hard to install, then it was easy to install. So, I thought I'd give it a shot. It was NOT that bad to install. A little clumsy, but not difficult! It only took about 10 times for me to be on one side with a treat, for my dog to figure this out! This is perfect, because NOW, on beautiful weekends, my sweetie can go out and lay in the sun any time he wants, then come back in for a drink of water or to lay on the cold tile! Wish I would have done this LAST summer, when I first saw this product! I have ordered from Improvements many times and NEVER been disappointed or had to return anything!!

Not sure what there is not to like, unless you couldn't install it properly.
I have had this door for 5 years now. It was very easy to install and once I trained my dog (chihuahua/hot dog mix) to use it, he loves it and so do I!

I don't have to get up everytime he wants to go outside. I just adopted a new dog and he learned how to use it within 2 weeks. At first he had to get the timing right so he wouldn't get hit when he followed the other one. Once they got that down, it's been perfect.
Have had it for 5 years and it is still working and about to buy another one for my parent's house. The only thing I didn't install was the little lock it brought with it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I knew there had to be something to put in a screen door to the porch but could not find it at any of the pet stores, home improvement stores or hardware stores here in FL. This is exactly what I needed It works quite well. Now I don't have to get up every time the dog wants to be on the other side of the screen enclosure. The lock mechanism is a rather primitive blocking tab that can be shoved downward into a slot. I did not install this, as it would only encourage the dog (a Lab) to chew on it, and it would be awkward to use. Otherwise excellent.
