Instructions were lacking
With my husband's parents staying in our guest house, I needed to illuminate the patio near our gate. This was easy to install. My one complaint is that I had to search for the battery compartment. After I had completely disassembled the fixture (which was completely unnecessary), I found the door to the battery compartment. You could make it much easier by putting that in the instructions.

Answer:
Have purchased 3 of these. Change batteries two or three times a year. Depends on how often light comes on. One on my front porch, I change about 3 times a year. Takes 4 D size batteries & they are easy to change.Perfect for areas where you want some light but do not want to wire it or leave it on all the time.
