Lighted Crystal Tree Topper 4 5 3 3
Beautiful but very heavy I had to return this product, despite the beauty of it. There were several problems, all stemming from the weight of the star. 1) It was so heavy that it bowed the top of the tree over -- almost double -- and the clamp wouldn't hold it securely. It fell off (fortunately, I was able to catch it); 2) The clamp that was meant to affix the star to the tree wasn't big enough to clamp onto a studier stem -- if you're determined to use it, I think you'll have to come up with some improvised solution to affix the star, and move it further down the tree so it won't topple over; 3) If you are purchasing this to go on the Salzburg Corner tree, as I was, there is a spike at the base of the star that is meant to fit into the top of the Salzburg tree -- neither is long enough to provide stability and the fixed, attached clamp won't fit around the central stem at a location that provides strength. Further, it is a delicate thing -- one of the longer lucite rays was snapped at its base, presumably during shipment. It was well-wired in place, though, by the lights, so I thought I could still use the star. But for the reasons above, it just wouldn't work on the top of my tree. It was a big disappointment, despite it's attractiveness. December 14, 2013
Great top for a tall(9ft+) tree We have been looking for a topper for our 12ft tree for over 2 years. We were skeptical at first about this one, but decided to order it anyways based on the dimensions. The shipping was very fast and it arrived well packaged. When we opened it, we were very pleased with the size although we were still unsure how it was going to look on our tall tree. We plugged it in and I was very impressed. The pictures don't do it justice as it has an amazing array of colors. It attached to the tree with the enclosed clip, however we had to put a tie around the rear to get it to hold upright as it is a bit heavy. It's absolutely is perfect for our tree. If you have a tree 9ft or taller I would definitely recommend this topper. December 10, 2013

How does this attach to the tree?

I would like to see a diagram of how this attaches. It is kind of expensive and I would appreciate more information.

Thank you.

1 Person needs an answerI have this question too

Hi Susan -- I returned my star precisely because I could not securely attach it to my tree. There is a fixed clamp that is intended to grip a stem, but practically speaking, it didn't work on my tree. The star is very heavy and the clamp has a surprisingly small diameter. As I mentioned, it's fixed in place, towards the bottom of the star, rather than at the top -- making the whole thing very top-heavy. When I finally managed to get it affixed, the star and the top of my tree bent over double and the star fell off (fortunately, I was able to catch it before it shattered). It is beautiful; it is rather costly, but the weight, coupled with the poor placement of the clamp made it unworkable on my tree. If your heart is set on making it work for you, I think you'll need to do some improvising and perhaps wire it securely in place, a bit farther down from the top of the tree.
