Kitchen Work Cart 3.6 5 14 14
Would have been nice if better pre-assembly and hardware. Was impressed at first with how well packaged and with instructions, especially notice to not tighten hex screws during one stage of assembly, but there were problems. 1) Pilot holes were not precisely drilled; had to drill new holes. 2) As mentioned by others, the image and instructions for Part O, the front rail, were inaccurate. Had to reassemble twice (wish I had read comments before assembly). 3) The preinstalled drawer glides were set too high; the drawer will not close fully under granite top (also noted by another reviewer). 4) The short flat head screws supplied to attach the Pin Bracket for the bin door are too short. One of the brackets pulled out immediately. Much stronger hardware needs to be used since this is the area of the cart/bin that will be stressed the most during use. Noticed immediately after assembly: 1) Assembled cart is not nicely aligned as a result of the imprecise pre-assembly. 2) One side of granite top came unglued (as another reviewer mentioned). 3) As noted above, drawer will not close fully. 4) Bin door does not glide open smoothly and do not expect pin brackets to hold up even after replacing screws. A "cushion" attached to bin door stop (front rail, part O) would help quieten during use. Debating whether to head out to the hardware store and reassemble third time or donate cart to a charity. Would have been a nice little kitchen cart/trash bin if manufacturer had better quality control over pre-assembly and hardware. May 31, 2013
Kitchen Work Cart My mother has been looking for a nice, small kitchen cart/island and this has filled the bill very well. The polished granite top looks classy and makes a great work space and it is just the right height for her to sit at and do food preparation. The rest of the cart is styled nicely and looks great. Keeping the garbage out of sight (and out of reach of the cats) is also a big plus and the drawer is very handy. So far, it has proven to be sturdy and reliable. The directions could have been clearer regarding the placement of the "stop" for the tilt out garbage door to rest against when closed so it doesn't tilt in too much; my husband thought it was to keep the drawer from pulling out too far and ended up installing the bar it was supposed to screw into upside down, so now we either have to drill new holes or superglue it. Not a huge deal, but a better picture would have been appreciated. Overall, it's a very attractive, useful and sturdy piece. May 17, 2013
I would purchase it again at the sale price I've just assembled it, and the door seems a little wonky, but that could be the assembler. It is a good looking piece, and the top is terrific. I bought it (1# because to keep reaching into the cabinet under the sink is a pain, and #2) I'm hoping this is one door the dog can't figure out how to open and invade the trash. It will also allow me more storage under the sink where the old trash can was. May 16, 2013
Worth time & effort required We purchased 3 units & placed them just outside kitchen near laundry area. We are thrilled with the way the units look & function. We now have a Recycling Center with a trash bin, a paper recycling bin & a recycling bin for cans & bottles, plus total of 18" x 54" granite countertop. We did not attach the towel bars because we don't need them & we wanted the 3 units to be close together to form one continuous countertop.. We strongly recommend that you read & follow all the helpful hints & advice of the other reviews that customers have written. The assembly instructions included with these units are poorly written & illustrated. We started by checking & labeling each bolt & screw size to avoid confusion later. Errors included incorrect drawing of part " o" & unclear placement of that part. Another reviewer explained the correct placement of this part. We had to drill new pilot holes for the casters on one unit because they didn't line up correctly. We never used a flat screwdriver, only phillips & the allen wrench provided. it was helpful to put a handle on the allen wrench to make it easier to turn that many times in tight spaces. That handle came from our tiny portable screwdriver set with interchangeable bits. We also had to sand one drawer top because it didn't close properly. Each unit had different little problems to deal with, which other customers have mentioned. Allow plenty of time for assembly so you dont get frustrated. The Rubbermaid Commercial container model # 2957 fits perfectly. I ordered it online from Walmart. Overall we are thrilled with these units. They look good & function very well. Our dogs can't get into them. They are made with solid wood, not particleboard, and so should be durable. The granite looks great. Many thanks to all who took time to write such helpful reviews. You made things easier for others. May 3, 2013

Answer:
We purchased a bin from Home Depot. A Rubbermaid Commercial Product 41 qt. Waste Basket model #FG295700 Gray cost $7.87. It slips in to the work cart very nicely. Home Depot has this bin available from their on-line store as well.

Answer:
It's not just the gallon size, but also the length, width, and height that are important. Here is a note from the current online description:

NOTE: The Kitchen Work Cart can accommodate the Rubbermaid 36-qt. wastebasket (model #2806) or Rubbermaid 32-qt wastebasket (model # 5L60); not included.

The only trash bin we could find was the Rubbermaid 2806 with a letter after the 2806 and is a 35 quart can, but it works fine. We ordered it from a hardware store online It's almost not wide enough, so we are going to add two wood strips on the inside left and right just to make sure it never falls through.
