Wedge&#174 Downspout Screen - Set of 2 4.2 5 6 6
Use Being Evaluated I am putting these into several of the gutters for my houses and apartments to see if they work as advertised.. September 16, 2013
It's a Winner! I ordered these downspout screens several years ago when it became apparent we were going to have a problem with leaves and pine straw blowing onto our roof. Our downpouts are all connected to black plastic pipes that go into the ground and carry the water to the street. These screens have functioned extremely well. Once or twice a year I remove the pine straw or leaves that have collected around the screens and shake out any dirt that has accumulated in the screens. My neighbors on either side have had problems with the pine straw clogging the black pipes and the gutters overflowing. The screens trap the pine straw and leaves but continue to let the water flow. I just ordered a second set to make sure I had backups whenever the originals need to be replaced. These have been winners for me! May 19, 2012
drain device DOES clog up, causing gutter overflow-- Two tears ago, I purchased 3 sets to offset a gutter problem due to leaves, maple seeds, etc. After installation, the next average rain resulted in 3 separate gutters to overflow. I spend @ the same amount of cleaning that I did before placing the devices. In addition, the design doesn't always fit into the spout at the end of the gutter, Too close to the end, no flexibility. The screen plugs up with leaves, seeds and granules from the roofing shingles. Very frustrating, I thought I had the solution..... September 12, 2012
Doing the job... Alot lighter than they look...but they assembled easily...and went into the gutter holes tightly...so they won't blow out! We have two places on our house...that have 'underground' pipes taking the water away from the house...and are difficult to clean when the leaves collect there because they are underground. We bought these to stop the leaves where they collect in the gutters on the roof. With these stoppers the leaves don't get into the underground pipes...only the water away from the house!
