Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fills in for Mother Nature There's a spot in our yard where nothing would grow. Not even weeds. We put up a trellis and tried ivy and other vines. They all died. That particular place desperately needed some green. Then we got this faux ivy, and attached it to our already-existing trellis. Voila! A lush green vine now makes our entire yard look better, and we don't have to use precious water to keep it looking good.

What does it look like from the other side.

Im considering purchasing 2 of these to put along a wood gate for privacy in my pool area. The other side of the gate faces the street. So I need to know what it looks like from the other side. If I use the ivy facing the pool then what faces the street. Does someone have a picture. Thank you Alex

The leaves on the other side are more flat on the backside. Both sides look so identical. I have had for several years now, two hanging over my windows outside and looking from the inside, they look gorgeous. I have had so many compliments. The durability is incredible and I live in Chicago "The Windy City".

Can this item be hooked to a wood fence to hide gaps in fence

Asked by: coyote2
Sure, I would say so. The trellis is made of wood itself, so you could use some skinny nails to tack it up to a wooden fence. Be sure NOT to use thick nails as you may split the thin wood of the trellis. Be aware, it is meant for privacy or decoration, not to keep out farm animals or mad dogs.

How flexible is it?

I would like to buy this to wrap around an ugly telephone pole that is in my garden. Every one who reviewed it seems to be using it on a fence. How flexible is it? Will it wrap a telephone pole?
Asked by: Txgirl
It's not flexible and won't wrap around a telephone pole. The trellis is wood, so it won't bend.

how do you attach the screen?

Asked by: llmgordon
The faux ivy comes pre attached, all you have to do is set it where you want it. The trellis is made of real wood, so you could use tiny thin nails (NOT thick nails), or wire, depending on where you are putting it. I have mine against vinyl siding of my house. The screen can vary in size from short and wide to tall and very narrow depending how far you stretch the accordian-like trellis. With the vinyl siding on my house, it was flexible enough for me to just squeeze it and wedge the trellis itself right behind the window sill edging. Wedged just sitting on the ground of the flower bed and NO OTHER supports or hooks any place, just holds its shape. I have had it there for 2 years just like that!

Poles to secure it? Winter hardiness?

I plan to use this trellis to hide two heat pumps. The space is 6/1/2 feet long and 40" high so I would use it horizontally. How do I secure the ivy in the ground? I saw some poles listed with a netted ivy cover but I am not sure if they will work with this trellis. Also, does anyone leave the trellis out during northern winters? If so, how well did it hold up? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

I secured mine with metal poles originally intended for straightening tall plants, like sunflowers. Then I just used zip ties to attach the trellis to the metal poles. I live in upstate NY and plan to leave mine up all year, so we'll see how well it fares in the winter but I think it will be fine. I've had other faux ivy on a trellis outside year-round, and it was fine.
