Rated 5 out of 5 by from The gift that says "I care for you!" This was a birthday gift for my best friend. It looks really well made and easy to deploy. Because the ladder rungs are offset from the side of the building, it will be safer to use. This in one of the few escape ladders on the market that can be used from a third floor. It now sits unobtrusively in its box under the window furtherest from his front door.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful and for the safety concious I puchased this ladder because it provided the length I was looking for (2-story) - most ladders available are only 13 feet long for a two story home. Many townhomes are three stories today ... and this is the length needed for such homes. It is easy to store and not too heavy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from escape ladder I have been looking for an escape ladder for my daughter who has a two story house. Her son recently became a cub scout and in a meeting the leader told them the importance of fire safety and having a plan. Now with this escape ladder they have a fire plan and the ladder is stored underneath the bed and is ready to go. Before there was no plan now they have a great plan. This was an excellent value I think and it does bring some peace of mind if anything were ever to happen. I am happy I checked out the Improvement Catalog.

Max sill depth?

We have deep window sills - inner sill is about 12" deep and then another 5" on the exterior (it's an old house). It looks like the grip is wide - wider than others I've seen online, but can someone confirm what is the max depth it can go? Is there some other feature that would allow it work safely with a deep sill? Thanks!

Thank you for your question. In order for the 2-Story Escape Ladder to work properly the window sill should be a minimum of 6 inches and a maximum of 10 inches.
