I loved the way it looked. But it should have had a tiny phillips screwdriver enclosed so that you could get into the battery case. When we did get the two screws off and removed the tab covering the battery and reassembled it, the numbers never lined up again. It also stated that even tho it is an outside item, it should never get wet, and recommended that it be put under an overhang (what would happen if the wind brought the rain to it?) I am not sending it back because the shipping cost so much one way ($7.00), and if I returned it, shipping back would be costly (altho not as bad), and the item was very inexpensive. Too bad. I don't recommend it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

There is a design flaw such that you need a very tiny, specialized screwdriver (not provided) to access the battery. It appears that the battery must be covered to retain its life, but you need to be able to open the casing to remove whatever is keeping it from working. Most similar articles have a readily accessible tab from the outside to remove whatever keeps the battery from making contact. I bought two and was able to remove the screws on only one--and that one is fine and works well. Cannot get the screws out of the 2nd thermometer to get it working.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The unit is easy to mount, changing the battery requires a tiny jewler's phillips screwdriver .. a bit of a hassle even if perhaps the battery lasts a 'year' . The suction cups need to be supplemented with some other form of fastening to the glass especially during cold weather, when they can let go and have the unit drop and break. Some sort of adhesive hook and loop, perhaps. The minimum and maximum temperature indication is really useless, since there is no way of 'resetting' it unless you take the battery out .. so daily lows and highs are not given. Extra added confusion to the display at this point. Otherwise the large main temperature read-out is useful, during the day highly visible, at night you need to have a yard, patio or other light on outside to be able to read the temperature without actuall going up to the unit with a flashlight.
I would recommend this to a friend!
