8" Decorative Recessed Light Cover 4.2 5 57 57
Looks so much better We had difficulty figuring out how to install the prongs, but once we sought assistance at our local hardware store, it was a snap! This fixture looks so much nicer than the old lightbulb that was sticking out of the ceiling. What an improvement! October 24, 2011
We are glad we purchased this item We were looking for something to dress up our lights and had looked at this product for months before we decided to try them. We love the elegance it gave to the plain lights we had before. They provide a soft glow to the light which adds to the ambiance of the rooms we added them to. They were easy to install. Can you tell me the depth of these?

I actually also need the 6" diameter, but I am replacing surface fixture and need shallow 4" inserts.

I purchased three of these decorative light covers as a test to determine whether we wanted them throughout the house (a total of 25 canned lights). I had them professionally installed because my light cans did not have the slots (indicated in the directions) in which to insert the wires which hold the covers taught against the celiling. Although the covers are firmly rested against the ceiling, light bleeds out around the circumference of the cover, making it appear as if it is not properly installed. The electrician indicated that most decorative light covers come with gaskets, black circular discs which are placed around the cover between it and the ceiling which prevents such light bleeding through. Ours did not come with any such gasket. I would purchase more if there is a way to prevent the light from bleeding through the sides.

Thank you for your question. The Decorative Recessed Light Covers come with a black gasket on top of the baffle. This is to keep the Recessed Light Cover air tight and fit snug against the ceiling and the recessed can. Unfortunately, in some cases some light leak emits from where the baffle mounts to the Trim Ring. If the ceiling has texture a small halo of light may be noticed around the edge of the trim ring. We do suggest that after the baffle is attached to the trim ring that you press down around the edge of the baffle to press it closer to the trim ring. Please contact a product specialist at 1-800-642-2112 if you require further assistance.
