Decorative Garden Fencing (White)

poor design, can't get into ground w/o major effort
I bought this fencing to run along new shrubs to keep the dogs out in my backyard. Couple of issues: the tines that you drive into the ground are so flimsy that they bend when inserting into anything but newly laid topsoil. Solution: went to Home Depot, bought a bunch of metal landscaping spikes, drilled screw holes and attached to the tines. Total additional cost: $45.00 on top of the initial $200+ cost of the fencing, plus 3 hours of my time. Now the fence works as advertised. If you're not handy, you don't want to buy this fencing. I have to say, after my "fix" the fence went into the ground easily and does look great.

tried to use it for something more than decorative
I tried to use this as a visual border for about 30 feet of a terrace in my yard to discourage the kids from playing near the edge. Didnt work as well as I thought. The terrace isnt perfectly flat, or straight and I couldn't install the fence with the links clicked together. Tried separating them and it doesnt look so good. If you just need a decorative fence for a garden, its should be more than fine but didnt work for what I needed it to do.

Fence could use improvement
Over-all this was a nice looking product but I ran into a problem. I wanted to use it in a U shaped pattern with the finished side facing out. Because of it's hinge design it would only bend one way and not the way I needed it.. It would also have been helpful if they sold/included a piece w/o the hinges on one end so it could have a nice finished look on the end piece.

what if I need a 2-foot piece as the last piece so that it's flush against the wall? Can the 3 2-foot pieces be disconnected?
what if I need only 1 foot? Can one of the pieces be cut in half with a saw? I don't know much about PVC resin.
