Are you in search of small patio ideas? Things like patio umbrellas and outdoor dining are tables usually associated with spacious outdoor living spaces. So what are you supposed to do in you only have a balcony or small patio that won’t fit standard-sized outdoor furniture? We’ll show you 4 ideas for transforming your space below!
Small Patio Idea 1: Use a Half Umbrella.
This unique patio umbrella provides all the shade and relief of a full-size umbrella and won’t overwhelm smaller patios. It is ideal for spaces like apartment/condo balconies and small patios and can even double as a temporary awning in front of french doors. We chose yellow to match our patio cushions, but the half patio umbrella also comes in blue, red, and blue and white stripe.
Small Patio Idea 2: Make Room for Smaller Furniture.
We added our small-space friendly outdoor dining set that features a eucalyptus drop-down table and folding armchairs. The table has a built-in hole for an umbrella, and the armless design of the patio chairs make them less bulky and a better fit for small patios. If you don’t go with the folding table, and just want to add some shade along your house, consider pairing a half umbrella stand with your umbrella.
Small Patio Idea 3: Choose Colorful Cushions.
If you have a small patio or deck, odds are you probably don’t have much room to add color. An easy way to incorporate some is to add outdoor cushions to your patio chairs. Patio cushions are not only a good way to decorate your patio, but they also make your seating arrangement more comfortable. We used our oasis print patio cushions since the bold reds and oranges popped against the soft pink color the house. Plus, there is nothing more fitting for summertime than a bold tropical print.
Small Patio Idea 4: Accessorize.
The final step is to add some flair to your small-space patio. To complement our patio cushions, we added our Sausilito Outdoor Rug in Spice. It resists mold, mildew, and stains, and is easy to clean. We offer a variety of styles and sizes of outdoor rugs, so choose the one that looks best with your existing outdoor decor. In keeping with our low-maintenance look, we chose to add an artificial plant for decoration. Lifelike topiaries instantly add a natural and fresh look and do not need to be watered, pruned, or primped. We placed our topiary in a self-watering planter…again, the less work we have to do once our space it set up, the better!
Now…sit back, relax & enjoy!
