3-Tier Folding Bookcase 4.3 5 74 74
This product has great features This product was exactly what I was looking for in my bedroom. Easy to assembly. I purchased the mantle but the holes didn't line up so I had to call customer service, who immediately sent out a new mantle. The color was not what I expected for "Walnut", it's a little on the red tint side, but I made it work. Quality- good, easy assembly- good. I would recommend this product June 8, 2013
good for moving around a lot I seem to move every two years lately so I need stuff I can break down. This works out great. very durable. One big problem. I got the shelves and mantel separate. They did not include the connection pieces in the shelving box. While the shelf comes already assembled trying to put the mantle and self together is a nightmare. The things they finally gave me to join the self and the mantle don't actually work together. I read one comment that said something about her cutting dowels to finally fix it together. And the instructions are no help it's a tiny piece of paper that has spelling mistakes and a terrible picture. So, selves good mantel good putting them together sucks!! June 7, 2013
Good, but - I really like these bookcases, and have ordered them before. The top is well finished, and looks good. The color matches the bookcase exactly (I got red). However, when the bookcases arrived, I found that the little plastic thing used to hold one bookcase (or the top) steady on top of another did not fit in the holes in the top. I had to cut some dowel pieces to use instead. June 5, 2013
Perfect Solution For Me! These bookcases have been on my wishlist for 2 years and I finally was able to order them. I love these bookcases. Very easy to 'unfold' and I had the books in them very quickly. I ordered 6 as I do have a lot of books. The room looks more finished and I love the low profile design . . open frame, etc. May 28, 2013

I am considering purchasing 2 of these in order to store books, toys, bins, etc. Wondering about the sturdiness of the product when potentially used for this purpose -- the kids have a lot of book and small bins. Thanks!

Answer:
The shelves are very solid and sturdy, and should hold whatever you want to put on them. They have a good solid base and seem unlikely to tip over. However, they are quite shallow -- I think about 11" -- so you should compare their depth with the items you want to put on them before purchasing.

Answer:
I would not use this for a child. The shelves are not very stable and I think it would topple over if much force was placed on the front of the shelves. I would only use it around children if you can secure it to the wall.

Answer:
Yes it is very sturdy and good-looking - although the back is open, there is a slat to keep things from falling out - one is used for heavy music scores and the other one (with the optionbal top) holds books, CDs and a small sound system on top

Answer:
The bookshelves have pegs you insert into holes on the top in order to stack them. If you add a mantel, it is also held on by those pegs and is smooth on the top, so you can only stack the bookcases or use a mantel, but not both.

Answer:
Mantle is optional and only needed for top piece - you can leave open if you prefer. The shelf does not come with a top so if you are using them individually, you may want to get the mantle for each one. If you use a mantel, you cannot then tier another shelf on top of it.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. You can't put the mantel between two bookcases. You can stack two bookcases and put the mantel on top.

Stability of stacked bookcases

I have a kitchen with 5 doors and 2 windows and because of that there is no space for cabinets. But I have an empty wall where shelves would fit if they are 12" deep or less. I have been looking for a very long time for shelves narrow enough to fit there. These would fit perfectly, but are they sturdy enough to be stacked?

I do not have children and I would put heavy items on the bottom shelves and light pots and pants on top. Eventually I may ask a carpenter to fix them to the wall. One of the pictures is a kitchen setup and looks very good.

I'd like to paint over it and make it a custom shade, but I don't want to risk it peeling off. So, if you could tell me what the top coat paint/finish is made of I'd appreciate it. If you think another model would be better suited to painting over, let me know. I'm going for an antique white final look, so I figured the white acts as my base coat. Thank you!

Thank you for your question. The book shelf has a lacquer finish. We recommend you take the shelf to a home center or hardware store where they can advise you on what is needed to produce the finish you want.
