14" Copper Verdigris Outdoor Clock 3.5 5 2 2
Gorgeous These two pieces are beautiful hanging on my parents' front porch. Lasted through this horrible winter and still look new! Great value to get both of these items for $50.00. April 27, 2014
Beautiful Set does not Meet Expectations In using them on my outdoor deck, I found there is one visual drawback and perhaps one design drawback. They are as follows: 1) On both items, in other than bright sunlight, I find that the gold coloring on the dial hands is virtually indiscernible. This makes reading either item at a distance as close as about 10 ft without adequate light difficult if not impossible. In dim light, you cannot see the hands or the temp dial at all. This in my mind actually renders them almost useless, despite their being pretty to look at. SOLUTION: on the thermometer I am going to paint the degree pointer a bright red, much like you would have a second hand on a white or black clock so it stands out. On the assumption that remedies the visibility, I will also do the same on the clock. This way you should be able to be even 25-35 ft away and still read the clock and knowing the layout on the thermometer dial, may a reasonable guess as to its actual reading. 2) The second issue relates more to a design feature.....the way both items are attached to the wall to with they are placed is with a simple hang-over-the-nail piece that really does not attach the piece to the wall. Many other outdoor pieces I have and or have bought typically have a screw and eye type set up where the screw or nail head passes through a hole and then the piece drops down a narrower neck so that it is more likely to remain where positioned. Given how lightweight the items are, I have great fears that they will ultimately blow off the wall. I need more time to see if I can engineer a solution to this in order to protect them in the event of even reasonable winds. Given both of these elements, hard to believe these are truly considered outdoor items. January 13, 2014

1 Person needs an answerI have this question too

Thank you for your question.
The statement you are referring to in the product overview is regarding the outdoor themometer and not the outdoor clock. Outdoor thermometers are sensitive to the direct sunlight and if protected from the sun that will ensure a more accurate reading.
